Product Safety Consulting Achieves ANAB/ILAC Accreditation: Your Test Data Now Accepted Worldwide

Nov 21, 2025

We have some outstanding news to share. Product Safety Consulting has just received our ANAB/ILAC accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 for testing across three major international standards. This is a major milestone, and means we are even better equipped to serve our clients who sell products globally.

The Accreditation at a Glance:

As of November 7, 2025, Product Safety Consulting is now accredited for:

  • IEC 62368-1 (Audio/video, information and communication technology equipment)
  • IEC 61010-1 (Safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement, control, and laboratory use)
  • IEC 60335-1 (Household and similar electrical appliances)
  • IEC 60335-2-52 (Particular requirements for oral hygiene appliances)

Our accreditation is valid through November 2027 and covers a comprehensive scope of safety testing, from electrical hazards and fire risks to mechanical strength and thermal performance.

We’re especially proud to have earned the IEC 60335-2-52 accreditation for one of our longest-standing clients, Colgate Palmolive. It’s a testament to the deep partnerships we build and the specialized expertise we bring to each industry we serve.

Why ANAB/ILAC Is a Game Changer

If you’re manufacturing products that need to meet international safety standards, this accreditation streamlines your approvals. Here’s why.

Testing Globally. Accepted Everywhere.

ANAB (the ANSI National Accreditation Board) and ILAC (the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation) operate symbiotically. That means when we test your products, those test results are accepted in over 100 economies worldwide. You’re not starting from scratch in each new market. You’re not paying for redundant testing. One test report from Product Safety Consulting opens doors across North America, Europe, Asia, and beyond.

If you have expansion in your sights, this is especially crucial. A partnership with PSC means you’re saving time and money with each foray into new markets. A partnership with PSC now makes you more agile, quicker to the launchpad, and highly competitive on a global scale, if that’s your goal.

The Rigor & Rewards of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Compliance

ISO/IEC 17025 is the international standard for testing and calibration laboratories. It’s not just about having the right equipment (though we do). It’s about demonstrating technical competence, maintaining rigorous quality management systems, and producing reliable, accurate test data every single time.

Achieving this accreditation means we’ve been independently verified by one of the most respected accreditation bodies in the world. Our processes, our equipment, our documentation, and our technical expertise have all been scrutinized and validated.

For you, that means confidence. When you work with an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited lab, you know the data you’re getting is defensible, repeatable, and recognized by regulatory bodies and market surveillance authorities worldwide.

The Standards We Cover

Let’s break down what each of these standards covers and who needs them.

IEC 62368-1: Information Technology and Consumer Electronics

This standard covers the safety requirements for audio, video, information, and communication technology equipment. If you’re manufacturing computers, servers, wearables, or similar devices, this is your standard.

It’s how we take shocks, burns, and virtually every technical hazard under the sun out of the equation. Our scope includes everything from power consumption measurements to battery safety testing to mechanical strength evaluations.

IEC 61010-1: Measurement and Laboratory Equipment

This standard means when you’re in the lab, everything’s under control. It’s a crucial one if you’re a manufacturer of electrical equipment used in measurement and laboratory settings. Think beakers, shakers, control equipment, and similar devices used in professional and industrial environments.

Our testing covers protection against mechanical hazards, resistance to mechanical stresses, fire protection, temperature limits, and much more.

IEC 60335: Household Appliances

Think of IEC 60335-1 as table stakes for household and similar electrical appliances. We’re currently accredited for the Part 1 general requirements and Part 2-52, which covers oral hygiene appliances specifically.

It’s a long standard—and for good reason, given the proximity to people and their residences. We test for access to live parts, power input and current, heating, battery charging, leakage current, moisture resistance, mechanical strength, and about twenty other critical safety factors.

Why Accreditation Matters More Than Ever

Regulatory bodies around the world are increasing their scrutiny. Market surveillance is more active. And consumers are more aware of safety issues than ever before. The overall landscape for product safety and compliance is getting increasingly difficult to navigate, without the right partner, that is.

In this environment, working with an accredited testing laboratory isn’t just a helpful tool. It’s a manufacturer’s must have.

Accredited test data carries more weight with certification bodies, customs authorities, and retailers. It reduces the risk of your products being detained at borders or challenged in the marketplace. And it demonstrates to your customers and partners that you’re serious about safety and quality.

Local Feel with a Global Reach.

We’ve been in the product safety and compliance business for 36 years, building our  reputation from the ground up. Our deep technical expertise and genuine partnerships with our clients have delivered us to this long-awaited next chapter.
