Field Evaluation Engineer

We are seeking energetic, inquisitive problem solvers and critical thinkers who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty. We are looking for versatile, hardworking, and talented individuals to join our accomplished engineering staff.  Working in and being comfortable in multiple categories is a must.  We are a Jack of All, Master of many.  If you have the passion to contribute to a growing consultancy and test lab and get rewarded for it both financially and personally, this is your job!   

The Field Evaluation Engineer is responsible for:

  • Manage the execution of Field Evaluation projects in multiple product categories.
  • Inspect the equipment on site and determine compliance with the NEC and UL Standards.
  • Conduct the non-destructive testing on the equipment and determine compliance with the NEC and UL Standards.
  • Communicate with local AHJs and explain the requirements, testing and process.  Invite their input into your investigation.
  • Communicate with customers explaining the requirements, testing, process and any non-compliances determined in the investigation.
  • Completing the FE reports and test reports.
  • Represent PSC at meetings of outside organizations – IAEI, etc.
  • Provide presentations to various trade groups on Field Evaluations.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Experience in global Product Safety and Certifications with all Certification Bodies (UL, Intertek, CSA, CE, CB, CCC, etc.).
  • Strong background in multiple product categories and have practical application and interpretation of conformity assessment standards and the NEC to bring products into compliance.
  • Demonstrated Project Management skills.
  • University Degree ( Bachelor’s degree) in Electrical Engineering or related degree, such as Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or Physics from an ABET accredited program or equivalent experience.
  • 5-10  years minimum relevant work experience.

Compliance Engineer/Consultant

We are currently looking to fill two engineering positions: Senior Project Engineer and Associate Project Engineer.

Senior Project Engineer:

  • Requires a minimum of 3-5 years relevant compliance work experience
  • University Degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree
  • Responsibilities include independently performing electrical/electronic/electromechanical equipment design and construction reviews to various North American (UL, CSA) and global (IEC and national) product compliance standards
  • Determining project scope, test plans and programs for product compliance investigations
  • Managing the execution of complex compliance engineering projects in multiple product categories
  • Interaction with customers and compliance agencies to discuss project scope and management, technical issues, explain procedures and requirements, resolve technical issues
  • Writing construction and test reports, confirming non-compliances, providing engineering recommendations for non-compliance resolutions, and communicating results to customers
  • Some travel may be required

Associate Project Engineer:

  • University Degree (2 or 4 year) in Electrical Engineering
  • Responsibilities include research, standard reviews, testing, and agency management
  • You will be working closely with a senior project engineer acquiring the skills listed above
  • You are excited to be in a position that affords you the opportunity to analyze and assess customers’ newly developed product compliance and safety challenges as well as make thought out, compliance recommendations for successful and safe product launches.
